Open Journal Systems is compatible with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which ensures the journal has a permanent and secure archive. LOCKSS is an open-source program developed by the Stanford University Library that allows libraries to preserve web journals by regularly crawling registered publications to collect and archive newly published content. Each archive is validated against records from other libraries, allowing any damaged or lost content to be restored using these records.
